My wife and I were debating where to go for lunch. I didn’t want to go where my wife wanted as the service was always slow. My wife refused to go where I wanted because she couldn’t justify the extra cost of tipping. I did not want fast casual, as I preferred to sit down and not stand in line. And, I always hate it when I forget to order the chips and guacamole, and then have to wait back in line, or cut the line and obnoxiously interrupt someone. We ended up making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Later that week, I was at my restaurant going over my labor costs for the previous month and amazed at the constant increase. And, my staff was struggling to upsell and grow per check revenue. The more I looked at the numbers, the more aggravated I became.

That afternoon, and I called my former restaurant partner and current technology entrepreneur. There had to be a technology answer for this.
